"I was married and after 7 years we divorced. It felt like a colossal failure.
I did a lot of yoga, performed a lot of self-reflection, and I took time to do what I really wanted to do for a couple of years. I’m still affected by my failed marriage, but I can see now that it wasn’t “my” failure. Sometimes things just don’t work out.
Most of the times when we feel like we have failed, we are using other people’s ideas of what we should do or be to evaluate ourselves. I was worried about the public perspective, my family, his family, and I was also unsure about my ability to make it on my own. Now that I have proven to myself my own abilities and my own worth, I don’t really think of my divorce as a failure. I think it was really brave, actually. Sometimes what looks like failure is really just a new beginning."
